Build A Rocket Boy has revealed the first Everywhere gameplay footage, giving us an idea of what to expect from this highly ambitious sandbox endeavor.

Everywhere was first unveiled in 2017 as the brainchild of ex-Rockstar North dev Leslie Benzies, and now, it seems his studio is finally ready to reveal what the game looks like.

That vision, it turns out, seems to sit somewhere between Fortnite's creative modes and Dreams. It's described as "a place where you can unleash your imagination to build, play, and connect".

As the trailer begins, a voiceover asks "what if we could build a world?" and "what would we do if we could start again?".

We then see a series of different maps being assembled in Everywhere's rather robust-looking map editor, as well as Fortnite-esque characters navigating those maps.

Given that Everywhere appears to be aiming for a community-driven approach (and apparently not one that's in any way driven by blockchain technology), the game looks pretty varied in the trailer.

Characters can be seen sprinting through action-packed setpieces, exploring massive cities, and just hanging out together, so it looks like this might be another PlayStation Home-style "create what you like" project.

The voiceover further describes Everywhere as a space "where our imagination is our only limit, and where our creations can come to life".

Whether or not Everywhere succeeds will, of course, depend on whether it manages to attract a widespread community.

Games that thrive on community engagement aren't always as successful as their creators want them to be; Media Molecule's Dreams, for instance, ended live support earlier this month, although the creators are still involved with the game in terms of community events.

In any case, you can sign up to Everywhere's closed alpha right here if you want to get a chance to try the game out. We don't have dates for the alpha yet, so stay tuned for more.
