Today Square Enix announced the opening of the pre-registration for the mobile JRPG Engage Kill, set in the world of the anime Engage Kiss

The game is coming to iOS and Android in Japan, and pre-registration is now open on both platforms ahead of its Spring 2023 release. At the moment, an English release has not been announced, and it may never come. We'll have to wait and see about this.

To celebrate the event, the publisher released a new trailer providing a look at the many playable characters that you'll meet and enjoy in the title.

The trailer is narrated by Soma Saito, the voice actor of Engage Kiss' protagonist Shuu Ogata. It features the theme song “My Last Engagement” performed by Kisara’s voice actress Saya Aizawa and Arisa Kori, who lends her voice to the new heroine Chloe Tang.

Engage Kill is defined as an “Animetic Timeline Battle RPG.” Its story is written by Maruto Fumiaki and it features art by Tsunako, who worked on Engage Kiss as well. Tsunako's name will likely ring a bell and her designs may feel familiar as she is the artist behind the Hyperdimension Neptunia and Date A Live franchises.

The game is going to be free-to-play with optional microtransactions. Considering the abundance of characters featured, the gacha business model is pretty much the inevitable fit. Square Enix has been pretty active in bringing its mobile games west, but this one has licensing attached, so we'll have to see whether it'll happen or not. If I was a betting man, my money would be on "not" but I have been proven wrong on this before.
