Roguelike expedition game Curious Expedition 2's closed alpha phase has started. If you participate in the alpha, you'll be able to play the game prior to its official release and send feedback on how you think the game could be improved. Developer Maschinen-Mensch expects to release the full game on PC and consoles in 2020.

If you'd like to join the Curious Expedition 2 alpha, there are two main ways to do so. Maschinen-Mensch has released the final update for the original Curious Expedition. This update adds a gameplay mode called Rivals. In this mode, you'll compete with other players to discover the Golden Pyramid. Discovering it grants you access to the Curious Expedition 2 closed alpha. If you don't have the original game or don't want to compete in this way, you can simply sign up for the alpha on the official Curious Expedition website.

Curious Expedition 2 will boast a number of new features. It'll have a brand-new graphic novel-style art aesthetic in contrast to the pixel style of the previous game. Maschinen-Mensch says it's implementing deeper travel and combat mechanics which will better allow you to express a personal playstyle. New multiplayer features will also allow you to compete with your friends and players around the world. You'll join Explorer Clubs, raise your rank within these clubs, and uncover hidden benefits that will assist you in each expedition. If you'd like to follow Curious Expedition 2's progress, you can do so by wishlisting the game on Steam. You can also check out the developer's official Discord channel. The full game will launch for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2020. We'll bring you more on a concrete release date when we get it.
