The raft of Cyberpunk 2077 free DLC is officially due to start dropping in early 2021. We don't know what form the DLC will take yet, but there are a few tantalizing hints in a new placeholder video created by CD Projekt Red to pore over.
What do we know about Cyberpunk 2077 free DLC?
This news comes courtesy of a new placeholder on the official Cyberpunk 2077 website. The placeholder plays a short looped teaser video and declares that Cyberpunk 2077 free DLC will start "hitting Night City early 2021". CD Projekt Red implores players to "stay tuned for more info", so we'll be getting more news about this - probably including exactly what we can expect the DLC to be - in the near future. All of the scenes in the video come from the base game, though, so we're not getting anything new from that video, unfortunately.
A little digging around on the web page reveals a couple of interesting images. The first is a moody night-time shot of Night City. That image is named "Video Poster" and is likely to simply be a flavor image. However, the second image depicts some graffiti scrawled on a wall, some of which may point towards what form the DLC will take or what elements of Cyberpunk 2077 it'll focus on.
Let's take a look at what we can see in this image. Graffiti in the bottom left reads "Where's Johnny?", which is most likely a reference to Keanu Reeves' Johnny Silverhand, and possibly a followup to the ending of the game. In the top left, we see the word "Fixer". This is a reference to an element from the Cyberpunk tabletop setting, that made it into the game; Fixers are effectively intermediaries for mercenaries and those who need jobs completed, and are often involved in quests. Finally, in the top right, you can make out the bottom half of another word. It's tricky to know what that word says, however, so unfortunately, it doesn't give us too much to go on. Still, there's a remarkable amount of potential info in this image given how bare-bones it is.
What will the Cyberpunk 2077 free DLC be?
If CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is anything to go by, we can expect the free Cyberpunk 2077 DLC to take the form of new equipment, new items, and new quests. Some of these quests may, if the image is anything to go by, revolve around Johnny Silverhand or introduce a new Fixer. It's also possible these could be themes for new weapons, cyberware, or even new story expansions. Of course, the free DLC won't be anywhere near as substantial as these story expansions; we still don't know when they'll be coming or what they'll contain.
