Today, during CD Projekt's Investor Day livestream, the developer of Cyberpunk 2077 provided more interesting information about its plans for the franchise.
We hear that the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime isn't the only move by the studio beyond gaming. There have already been some more in terms of media and merchandising, and there will be more before the release of the sequel, code-named Orion.
Interestingly, CD Projekt is also aiming at live-action productions and it has already started working with Hollywood-based production company Anonymous Content, which was involved in True Detectives, Mr. Robot, Spotlight, The Revenant, and more.
CD Projekt promised that more details would be shared at a later time, but this isn't something that "will happen overnight."
We also hear that CEO Adam Kiciński will apply for a supervisory board position for 2025 and shift over the next three months to a chief strategy officer position.
On the other hand, current CD Projekt RED head of studio Adam Badowski and current chief commercial officer Michał Nowakowski will take the role as joint CEOs.
They mentioned on stage that this is not the time to announce their policy and strategy just yet. That being said, they added that they will preserve the positive aspects of the company, but they also have "huge ambitions" to reach new heights.
We also hear that the foundations and main principles of the studio will remain the same despite the change at the helm. They intend to be fair in business and to gamers and to continue to create deep, mature, and immersive games.
Quality will always remain the most important factor for CD Projekt RED and both artistic and business decisions will be based on these principles.
Nowakowski concluded by saying "I hope that we'll give you a shi*load of entertainment"
Kiciński added that this is an entirely natural transition and the company remains in the best hands available.
Incidentally, during the final Q&A of the livestream, Badowski mentioned that there is some intention to make a complete edition of Cyberpunk 2077 with the expansion Phantom Liberty, but it's too early to discuss the possibility.
Earlier during the livestream, we learned that the expansion has already sold 3 million copies in a week.
