Capcom has released its financial statement for the 2023-24 fiscal year, and the company says it's enjoyed a seventh straight year of record profits, driven largely by the release of two major projects.
In its statement, Capcom reports an increase of 21% in its net sales and a boost of 12.3% in its operating income, both when compared to the same period last year.
Capcom says this represents "record-high net sales", as well as "the seventh consecutive year of record-high profit at all levels" and the eleventh year in a row of growth in the operating income area.
Over the course of the last fiscal year, Capcom says it achieved sales of 45.89 million units across home video game software, driven mostly by two major releases.
The first of these is, of course, fighting game Street Fighter 6, which arrived in June last year and managed to shift more than 3 million copies. The game also garnered positive reviews and impressions from critics and professionals, not least from us.
Capcom's other big success story for the last financial year was Dragon's Dogma 2, which arrived at the very tail end of the year, having launched across PC and current-gen machines in March.
The studio says Dragon's Dogma 2 has sold 2.62 million copies at last count, just above the 2.5 million reported back in early April. Our reviewer Erren was a big fan of this one.
In a time when major studios are making decisions that seem somewhat questionable in terms of employee welfare, Capcom's declaration that it's been "enhancing its employee welfare and benefits programs" this year is also impressive.
It's not just home console and PC games, though; Capcom's profits this year have also been helped by its "strong" pachislo division, with machines based on Sengoku Basara and Resident Evil Village both performing well this year.
