Call of Duty 2023

It's that time of the year, and with the smoke clearing on who's going to own the franchise going forward, Activision is teasing the reveal event for the next Call of Duty.

Yesterday, the publisher asked with a poll on the franchise's official Twitter account whether players would like "Operators, Weapons and Bundles to carry forward into Call of Duty 2023?"

Of course, this would have never been asked if it wasn't that plan, poll or not, especially considering that the available answers were just "yes" and "Yes, when is the reveal?"

Today they added fuel to the fire by explicitly mentioning upcoming details about a review events to be shared when Season 5 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is revealed. The option to carry forward content is also pretty much confirmed..

"Look for the first details about the [REDACTED] Reveal Event in the Season 05 Announcement and additional #MWII carry forward details soon. Stay frosty."

Currently, the game is within its Season 4, but the reveal of Season 5 shouldn't be far off, and with it, we're likely know more about the 2023 iteration.

Incidentally, as mentioned above, the smoke is clearing about who is going to own the franchise going forward. With the FTC defeated in court about Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard and the British CMA taking a much more diplomatic stance it appears that Microsoft is going to soon be calling the shots.

That being said, this doesn't mean fans on PlayStation will be left out to dry, because Sony and Microsoft have finally signed a deal about the franchise after Phil Spencer himself testified under oath to keep the franchise on PlayStation consoles. On the other hand, this means that the franchise should also land on Nintendo consoles at some point.
