Bungie Releases Pin And In-Game Emblem to Support Houston

Bungie has announced this week that it will be supporting Houston relief efforts by selling a pin and in-game emblem for Destiny 2. Bungie is no stranger to selling merchandise to raise funds for charities and natural disasters. Call of Duty does something similar by selling special camos with proceeds going toward helping veterans find jobs. Whether it's assuring kids get the education they need in foster care or contributing to the 2015 earthquake disaster in Nepal, Destiny fans in particular have had several opportunities to obtain memorable physical and in-game loot while, most importantly, bringing aid to those in need.

Through the Bungie Foundation, the eponymous developer intends to contribute to the organization Direct Relief. It was the same organization that Bungie worked with to help those in Nepal two years ago. In regard to Houston, Direct Relief states that 100 percent of the proceedings will go toward Houston if they are donated "exclusively for that effort." Its team is largely providing medical aid and supporting health centers throughout the city. You can read more about its actions and efforts by clicking here and donate directly to the organization from there.

Regardless, Bungie is encouraging donations with an exclusive pin and in-game emblem with three hearts, which you can purchase through this link for $14.99. All of the money will be going toward Direct Relief. While supplies are limited, the developer urges you to help in any way possible.

Even if a pin or emblem isn’t your thing, we urge you to help those impacted by Hurricane Harvey in your own way. Get involved. Donate to a charity of your choice. Help spread the word and support those who are helping in whatever ways they can.
What do you make of Bungie's charitable focus? Will you be picking up these items or have you contributed to helping Houston in other ways? Let us know in the comments below.
