Bethesda revealed VR modes for two of its biggest first-person shooter franchises: Prey and Wolfenstein. The announcements came as part of Bethesda's E3 2018 press conference.

It was announced earlier during the press conference that a competitive mode will be coming to Prey, titled Prey Typhon Hunter. This mode will also be playable in virtual reality when it launches.

Another Prey related VR experience is on the way, this one a solo campaign designed specifically for virtual reality.

As for Wolfenstein, a brand-new game titled Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot will bring the series to virtual reality for the first time. It has you taking the reins of a hacker who can disrupt enemy electronics and robots. No gameplay was shown for the game, so it's hard to gauge how exactly this will translate to VR just yet.

Release dates were not provided for any of these games or experiences during the press conference. Neither were platforms. The single player experiences will, however, be playable on the E3 show floor.

Prey: Typhon Hunter, the multiplayer VR experience, is a 1 v 5 multiplayer match where a single human player is pitted against five other players controlling mimics. This will be playable with or without virtual reality and the developers said it will come to Prey sometime this summer. A update launching the day of the conference will bring Mooncrash to the game, which is a single player mode with a randomly generated environment that changes every time you play it, making it infinitely replayable, the developers said. In other Wolfenstein E3 news, Bethesda announced Wolfenstein: Youngblood, a co-op game coming in 2019. This game jumps forward into the 80s to let you and a partner take control of BJ Blaskowicz’s twin daughters as they fight nazis just like their father. For more on Youngblood, see here.
