The Beat Saber release date from Steam Early Access has been announced! After a little more than a year in Steam's development program for in-progress games, Beat Games has reached a point where they feel comfortable calling it a finished product. This shift to Version 1.0 will also see the debut of the game's level editor — and a price increase.

"We are confident to say that the current version of the game is now stable and advanced," the developers said in a Medium post. "This doesn’t mean we don’t plan to make improvements on the way, but we can finally say that for the first time in the existence of Beat Saber, we are unifying all Beat Saber versions — Steam version, Oculus Store version, and PS VR version."

The Beat Saber release date will also see the debut of the game's much-awaited level editor. A simple 2D interface can be used by players to create their very own levels using any music files that they have on their system. On the off chance that you're more about streaming than downloading tracks off of iTunes, the developers are including the song "Beat Saber" from the first volume of the soundtrack completely for free so you can mess around with it. You'll be able to try your hand at making levels on May 21, 2019.

Lastly (and perhaps most importantly), the price will be going up when Beat Saber leaves Steam Early Access. Currently, the game is priced at $19.99 or your regional equivalent; that price will be jumping to $29.99 after it hits version 1.0. We reviewed the game last year and it's more than worth your money if you like music and rhythm games!

If you have a VR headset and you're a fan of using lightsabers to literally kill music, you'll be able to get the full version of Beat Saber on Steam or the Humble Store for $29.99 or your regional equivalent on May 21, 2019. Buy it before then and you can still enjoy the Steam Early Access price of $19.99! You can also buy Beat Saber for the PSVR at the same price point.
