Bad Robot Games has been announced as a new development studio that will (among other things) bring J.J. Abrams' creations to the digital world.

As VentureBeat reports, this new game developer will have Anna Sweet taking on the role of CEO. Her previous experience included serving as the Senior Product & Business Development Manager at Valve and the Head of Developer Strategy at Oculus. Combined with her work as the Head of Content at Facebook's SocialVR and the founder of the VR/AR consultancy firm Robot Teddy, it appears that this new game developer may lean strongly towards VR or AR experiences.

Joining Anna Sweet will be Michael Booth, Founder and CEO of Turtle Rock Studios. That company was later acquired by Valve, placing him in the position of Project Lead for Left 4 Dead. He subsequently worked as a Game Director at Blizzard Entertainment and Product Manager at Facebook's SocialVR.

What Will Bad Robot Games' First Project Be?

With talent like this on board, one has to wonder what the first Bad Robot Games project will be. It's likely a few years away — the company is currently in the process of hiring developers — but there are several interesting possibilities on deck.

While this new developer will create an original experience, it will also work with Bad Robot's media personnel to bring J.J. Abram's creations to the digital screen. Abrams' past creations include Alias and Lost; most recently, he has had heavy involvement in the modern Star Trek and Star Wars films.

Bad Robot Games will also work with other creators to co-develop games. In short, there are a lot of interesting possibilities that could be created as a result of this new company, especially with the talent it has on board and the access to Bad Robot's massive media catalog. It'll likely be some time before we see their first project come to life, but it's sure to be interesting.

What do you think the first Bad Robot Games title will be? Which of J.J. Abrams properties should be made into a game first? Let us know in the comments below!
