Awesome Games Done Quick 2023 Online has just concluded and its organizers at Games Done Quick announced that the popular speedrunning event has been successful once again in raising money to help cancer prevention.
We learn that more than $2.6 million (or more precisely, $2,642,493) have been raised for Prevent Cancer Foundation. The marathon was broadcasted on Twitch between January 8 and this morning for a whole week of speedrunning fun.
We also hear that Summer Games Done Quick is coming back and it'll air between May 28 and June 4, 2023. The next speedrunning event hosted by Games Done Quick will be Frost Fatales between February 26 and March 4.
A number of records have been beaten during the event including the following.
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge: Co-op Any% Arcade Old Patch by Benja and Paul-Knives (56:18)
- Super Mario Galaxy 2: Any% with Bank Run by Jhay (2:54:51.33)
- PowerWash Simulator: 6 Players, All Vehicles, No Soap by Amyrlinn, Bullets, Biglaw, Enigma Requiem, AngelicKnight, and Acadiel (33:31.7)
- Steven Seagal Is: The Final Option (Prototype): any% 9 exits by Crak Atak (21:44.6)
The press release also provides a total tally of the funds the organization has raised since 2010. More than $43 million have been raised for Prevent Cancer Foundation, Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières, Direct Relief, AbleGamers, Malala Fund, and Organization for Autism Research.
