ARK: Survival Evolved will be getting a new dinosaur as well as a bunch of other goodies in Patch 233 according to an announcement on the game's Steam Community page.
The most significant addition in Patch 233 is a new dinosaur - the Gallimimus. This distinctively chicken-like dinosaur will have the capability of carrying three players at once in a special saddle. There are ad-hoc multiplayer transports in the game already such as rafts or carrying a player with a Pteradon, but this will be the first option for carrying multiple people exclusively over land in a saddle. The Gallimimus is strictly a transportation dinosaur as it wholly lacks any sort of defensive capabilities. Players will have to make use of its speed and agility to survive, and it would be prudent for players to escort it with follower dinosaurs considering its lack of defensive capabilities.
A new SWAT-themed armor set is being added. It doesn't offer much protection from the elements but it has high physical damage resistance and reduced physical torpor. The new electric prod will give players a good melee option for stunning enemy players and dinosaurs alike. Greenhouse structure pieces are also being added for players focusing on farming.
ARK: Survival Evolved will also be adding nametags and hat skins for Wildcard Admin Teams, Wildcard Non-Admin Teams, Authorized External Testers, and Dev Kit Masters.
Official ARK: Survival Evolved testers will be given a special cosmetic as thanks for their efforts in improving the game. The cosmetic is bound to the account so only testers will be able to use them. An application is linked at the end of the news post, but it appears that applications for testers are not being accepted at this time.
Do you think players in ARK: Survival Evolved will utilize the transport capabilities of the Gallimimus or will they continue to ride their individual dinosaurs as they've been doing? What do you think of the new equipment they're adding to the game? Let us know in the comments below!
