A group of industry veterans who've worked on games like BioShock and Cyberpunk 2077 have banded together to form Antistatic Studios, a new developer currently working on its first project.

Per a press release, Antistatic's first game is currently codenamed Hornet, and it'll be a co-operative PvE shooter that's focused on "emergent gameplay".

Your objective in Hornet will be to search for and contain paranormal activity in a "procedurally assisted open world" comprising dynamic events and encounters with "multiple factions and entities".

This rather evocative piece of key art is almost all we've got of Hornet so far.

If you can imagine a game that's somewhere between Phasmophobia and Lethal Company, with a healthy dose of Control thrown in as well, it sounds like you're not a million miles off.

Antistatic Studios' roll call includes Cyberpunk 2077 writers' room lead Lukasz Ludkowski, as well as Kris Teper, who's worked on the BioShock and Borderlands franchises.

Other staffers include Conan Exiles programmer Michal Koltun and Project Winter community manager Gabriel Nordholm, so there are more than a few luminaries on Antistatic's staff sheet.

The studio also says it's partnered up with "the most influential writers from the biggest paranormal universes" to create Hornet's lore, and you can see the fruits of their labors on this rather cute little conspiracy theory-style site.

Per the aforementioned press release, Hornet will be shown off during this year's GDC, which will take place between March 18th and March 22nd, although only a select few will get to see it.

An early version of the game will also be subject to closed testing, which you can apply for either via the Antistatic Discord or via the studio's official website.

We'll have to wait and see what Antistatic has up its sleeve for this rather promising-looking debut title. Stay tuned for more on this as soon as we get it.
