Today third-party developers had news to reveal about Microsoft Flight Simulator, including a relevant aircraft that suffered a delay and will arrive for its successor, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
A press release sent by Aerosoft implies that the release of its long-awaited Airbus A330 has been delayed once again, and its development and launch have now been shifted to align with MSFS2024.
The scope of the project has also been changed. It'll now include multiple engine options and both the CEO and NEO versions of the aircraft will be released at the same time. Previously, the NEO version was planned to come at a later time as a separate project.
The press release also included a statement from Aerosoft CEO Winfried Diekmann.
The development time that we gain enables us to implement the highest standards and increase the feature set. For example, we are planning to offer several engine options, which was neither envisaged nor realisable in the previous project planning.
The Airbus A330 has been in development for a very long time, with the original announcement and the first images shared all the way back in 2021. The project has since undergone changes in scope among development challenges including the aircraft's navigation systems.
At the moment, we don't know whether it'll still be released for the original Microsoft Flight Simulator or not, and we have reached out to Aerosoft to ask for clarity. We'll update this post if we hear anything relevant.
Update: we got word from Aerosoft, and we heard that the Airbus A330 will be released on both MSFS and MSFS 2024 at the same time.
It's worth mentioning that the images above portray the aircraft in the current simulator and not in the 2024 version, which is expected to launch (obviously) at some point this year for PC and Xbox Series X|S with many radical improvements on top of its predecessor's features.
Moving on to other developers, Gaffer Simulation released new screenshots of George Airport (FAGG) in South Africa, offering no further information on its state of development or release date.
We also hear from Drzewiecki Design, about the add-on dedicated to the Polish capital Warsaw. We hear that all airports and almost all heliports included in the package are operational. Of course, the package won't include the city's major airports, Chopin and Modlin.
As usual, you should keep in mind that here on TechRaptor we publish daily Microsoft Flight Simulator news, to keep you up to date on this complex industry.
