RuneScape is a game that doesn't immediately scream 'beloved'. To put it bluntly, it doesn't look that great, and on first glance it doesn't play that well either. But if you delve below the surface, you'll find an MMORPG that has a massive fanbase for a reason. Choose from free-to-play or a paid subscription and do what you want. Want to fight monsters? Go for it. Want to raid? Sure! Want to kill people and camp their corpses because you don't have a life? They deserved it! Do you want you want, how you want. RuneScape has it all.
RuneScape was also rebooted in 2013 when they released in Old School RuneScape (commonly called OSRS). OSRS took the 2007 client and began updating it again, and now it's the more played version of the game compared to the regular version of RuneScape. To many players, OSRS may look simpler, but it's also a lot more fun, allowing people to vote on features that they want added to the game.
