Sony has announced four new peripherals at the PlayStation Meeting 2016 in concert with the new information released today about the PlayStation 4 Pro and PlayStation 4 Slim: an improved DUALSHOCK 4 controller, an improved PlayStation Camera, a Vertical Stand for the new consoles, and a Platinum Wireless Headset.

DUALSHOCK 4 Controller

playstation-4-dualshock-4-2016A new version of the DualShock 4 Controller (the CUH-ZCT2 series) is on its way. The light from the light bar can bleed through to the touchpad for a new visual effect. Additionally, the USB is no longer a dumb charging cable; it will be able to move data. This makes the new controller ideal for situations where wireless interference or lag is a concern. The new Dualshock 4 has a MSRP of $59/€59/£54.

PlayStation Camera

playstation-camera-2016The PlayStation Camera has been redesigned. It will carry over all the features from the previous camera in a smaller cylindrical shape and it will include a stand. Other than the aesthetic changes, it appears to be functionally identical to the current camera. The MSRP will be $59/€59/£54.

Vertical Stand

It features a translucent design to compliment the color of the next wave of PlayStation 4 consoles. Included attachments will allow it to be used for either console.  The current vertical stand unfortunately can't fit the newer consoles, so if you're planning on getting one and displaying it vertically you'll need this new stand. The MSRP will be $24/€19/£16.

Platinum Wireless Headset

A couple of important caveats about these new announcements from the PlayStation Meeting 2016: the prices for North America do not include tax whereas the European and UK prices do include tax. Additionally, while the technical specs of the devices are almost certainly set in stone the prices and/or the release dates are subject to change.

The new DUALSHOCK 4, PlayStation Camera, and Vertical Stand will be releasing in Japan, North America, and Europe simultaneously on September 15, 2016. (Release dates for other markets will be announced at a later time.) The Platinum Wireless Headset will be coming out sometime in the holiday season.

What do you think of the new peripherals announced at the PlayStation Meeting 2016? Is the wired signal capability of the new controller enough of a reason to buy it? Would you consider getting the high-end wireless headset
