Plays.tv is adding a couple of new features today. For those who are unaware of Plays.tv, it is a service that can easily record desktop game footage for you, and in the case of a couple of games will even track features such as kills or objectives, among other things. These changes will allow players that use this service to monitor key moments, create highlight reels, and even post to various sites.
Plays.tv already allows you to record game capture of your favorite PC games, but now you will be able to do more because games that are supported, such as League of Legends or Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, will be able to track such features as kill steaks and how many objectives you have been able to complete, so you don’t need to worry about capturing a long segment of time that you will only ever use half a minute on. If you are playing an unsupported game and you still want to pin these key moments, then the client gives you the option as a hotkey.
From these multiple pinned moments using the new features implemented in Plays.tv you can also automatically stitch them together into a single highlight reel. This will mean that you can almost instantly build up a great video to show off via Plays.tv or various social media websites such as Reddit, Facebook, YouTube or Twitter.
The last new feature that is being added in this update is that for supported video games, like the two that are mentioned above, when certain goals are accomplished, such as a double kill, the video on Plays.tv will be automatically tagged. So, if people wanted to search for a certain game activity, they would be able to find your clip with no added effort.
All in all for a content creator these additions will enable you to almost bypass the video editing step of putting your latest clip up onto YouTube or Facebook for all of your friends to see. It’s worth mentioning that the recording function of Plays.tv captures all game audio on your default audio out, so if you are also listening to music, or catching up on the latest Markiplier video, through your speakers as well as trashing an opposing team, it will capture that as well.
What do you think of these great additions to Plays.tv? Are you going to try making your own highlight reel? What other features do you think could be implemented to have this service?
