Playground Games’s Forza series will have a new release in the form of Forza Horizon 3. The racing game, which received a world gameplay premiere during Microsoft’s E3 2016 conference, will be joining Microsoft’s Play Anywhere initiative. Players can expect cross-platform accessibility with the game being playable on Xbox One and Windows 10 at no extra charge. The impressively designed gameplay reveal presented the title’s new setting of Australia. A stunning display of nature, the trailer showed off some of the game’s wildlife (kangaroos!) and environments. Setting the game in Australia seems to be a definitive choice for the series, as the continent has many diverse regions, to explore.
From winding, beach-side roads to dense forests, driving through Australia will look and feel like a true adventure. Forza Horizon 3 will feature new races, challenges, and the largest vehicle roster in any Horizon title, with the BMW M4, an off-road racing buggy, and a Lamborghini Centenario being showcased in the trailer. Several new features, such as Danger Sign Jumps, Convoys, Drift Zones, and Showcase events, will be sure to increase the level of action and amazement that Forza Horizon 3 can provide.
Customization seems to be a focus for Forza Horizon 3, as the ability to personalize goes beyond the game’s roster of over 350 cars. Players will be able to customize their driver, license plates, horn sounds, and even the music that they listen to. Forza Horizon 3 boasts eight radio stations and the potential to create a custom station using music from your own playlists. Custom gameplay is even promoted through the use of the all-new Horizon Blueprint feature. This tool will allow players to create and share gameplay, as well as alter the makeup of their Horizon Festival. By hiring friends to be featured in your own festival, fans can be gained through successful events. These same friends can even be fired if they are not gaining you more popularity.
Players will be able to engage in a wide variety of race events that will span from traditional street races to off-road chases. Forza Horizon 3 will sustain up to 12 players simultaneously for free roaming and competitive racing. For the first time in the series, Forza Horizon 3 will also allow players to participate in a 4-player co-op campaign. The co-op feature will integrate seemless joining that will let players enter others’ games immediately. No matter what time of day, weather, or environment players are experiencing, at just the touch of a button players will warp into their friends’ games. This will allow drivers to share an experience where they can race or explore the Australian environment without missing any thrills. Forza Horizon 3 will release on September 27th, 2016.
