Koei Tecmo’s magical girl RPG Blue Reflection: Sword of the Girl Who Dances in Illusion is coming West. Koei Tecmo America announced today that the female-centric game will be released outside of Japan for PlayStation 4 and Windows PC via Steam starting September 26, 2017. An original title developed by GUST Studios, the new title takes place in Hoshinomiya Girls’ High School in modern day Japan.
Blue Reflection focuses on protagonist Hinako Shirai, a ballerina who must stop dancing after a tragic accident. Depressed by the abrupt dashing of her dreams, Hinako finds a new uplifting purpose for her life when she meets a pair of magical twins, Yuzu and Lime Shijou. These classmates imbue her with a mysterious and magical “Reflector” power which allows Hinako to manipulate another dimension called The Common and fight evil there.
Hinako’s powers allow her to change her appearance and use her imagination to shape the world of The Common. While this parallel dimension is beautiful, it also fraught with danger and she soon learns she must use her newfound abilities to protect herself and her friends. As her relationships with the people around her grow Hinako is better able to fight off these evil forces.
There is a slew of preorder bonuses for Western buyers from Amazon, Best Buy, EB Games and GameStop. Preorder perks include digital content such as costumes and other cosmetic changes. Among these are a school swimsuit costume and the outfit of Rorona Frixell from Atelier Rorona. Those that purchase the game for PlayStation 4 will also get an original custom theme.
More details about Blue Reflection’s Western release will be divulged in the months leading up to its launch date.
