Telltale Games has asked a question, in conjunction with Mojang – how many Telltale style games are you interested in? Well both of them are banking on it being at least one more as Telltale is adding Minecraft to its list of properties that its made original stories out of.

Minecraft Story Mode will be joining what is going to be a packed 2015 for Telltale as Tales From the Borderlands, Game of Thrones, and possibly The Walking Dead: Season 3 are already scheduled for the year with only Tales From the Borderlands and Game of Thrones having already released at least one episode. It is possible that Tales from the Borderlands and Game of thrones will make up the first half the year, with The Walking Dead Season 3 and Minecraft Story Mode making up the second half of the year.

Minecraft Story Mode will feature a whole new set of characters, and won’t be dealing any with Steve the normal protagonist in the game. Like all of Telltale’s games, it will be a standalone episodic interactive fiction adventure game that focuses heavily on story and narrative causality. This will be somewhat of a different process for Telltale, as unlike their other collaborations, Minecraft doesn’t feature much in the way of a world or characters to build from, meaning this will be all on them, and Mojang to get right in mixing the feel of Minecraft with the story feel expected of a Telltale game.

The graphical look will be based on that of Minecraft, and will likely blend that with Telltale’s typical style to make it work. In their Info Quest 2 “game” Mojang hinted that the game will be less violent then many of the other Telltale games in an effort to stay true to Minecrafts tone and suhc.

Like many of Telltale’s games it will be coming out on basically all consoles – XBox, PlayStation, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android. You can read more about it on Mojang’s Blog, or Telltale’s Blog who both provide precious little detail on the game that will come out starting at some point in 2015.

What do you think of Minecraft Story Mode? Do you think this is just getting to be too many Telltale games? Do you think Minecraft is even the type of game that fits a narrative driven spinoff like Story Mode promises to be?
