Deep-Cut Studios Sea Mats

Deep-Cut Studios produce a range of incredible gaming mats and as part of our Nautical Tabletop Season, we wanted to showcase some of the sea mat options.

This article forms part of our Nautical Tabletop Month that's running across all of November. We're going to look at different nautical wargames and board games, as well as interview developers about capturing the sea feel on the tabletop. We'll also look at nautical factions in popular wargames along with tabletop accessories that are available to keep your hobby ship-shape. You can see all the articles here on the hub. So come aboard as we set sail and celebrate all games nautical in nature.

Firestorm Games

You can buy all the Nautical Tabletop Month products from our tabletop sponsor, Firestorm Games.

We've previously looked at a range of Deep-Cut Studios gaming mats for use in different wargames in our showcase, but our Nautical Tabletop Season gave us a great opportunity to show off a range of sea mats that Deep-Cut Studios produce.

Mythos Docks

Deep-Cuts' Mythos Docks was originally made for the Mythos game by Paranoid Miniatures, now being produced by Warcradle. But it will work for any dark setting on a dock. Like our Wrath of the Nautilus crew for Lost World Exodus, making a daring raid on the docks.

The Mythos Docks gaming mat is available in a 3x3 foot gaming mat in a 2mm thick rubber foam mousepad canvas.

Beach

Deep-Cuts' Beach mat is great for games needing sea, sand, and scrub, with a landing party for Blood and Plunder or like our Pirates of the White Sea, who look like they're stranded on the beach and are looking for a way out.

The Beach gaming mat is available in 4x4 and 4x6 feet in a choice of PVC, Cloth, and Mousepad canvas choices.

Caribbean Sea

Deep-Cuts' Caribbean Sea gaming mat is perfect for Black Seas or any setting looking for the bright waters of the Caribbean. It really makes painted ships pop and creates a perfect background for games. The print is incredibly clear and the ripples create a real sense of motion.

The Caribbean Sea gaming mat is available in 3x3, 3x6, 4x4, and 4x6 feet in a choice of PVC, Cloth, and Mousepad canvas choices.

Islands

Deep-Cuts' Islands gaming mate is perfect for any ship game that you want some inbuild scenery for. Games like Black Seas, Sails of Glory, Victory at Seas, or any game where getting a bit of cover is useful for the survival of your ship. You can see above, with our English Sails of Glory fleet trying to escape a blockage of French ships, who've positioned themselves perfectly to bring their broadsides to bear.

The Islands gaming mat is available in 3x3, 4x4, and 4x6 feet in a choice of PVC, Cloth, and Mousepad canvas choices.

TechRaptor Testimonial

The mousepad canvas for Deep-Cut Studios' gaming mats is very durable. It rolls flat, and the rubber fabric means that it won't move around underneath you. The way the fabric is colored into the material, means that the colors always stay fresh and vibrant and they won't rub or scratch away. I've been using Deep-Cuts' products for a while, before even writing for the site and I've always found their mats premium quality, and the staff there very helpful, understanding and passionate about what they do. - Adam Potts, TechRaptor Tabletop Editor

Print-O-Mat

If the huge selection of Deep-Cut gaming mats isn't enough for you, they also offer a Print-O-Mat service, where you can upload your own image to create a single or double-sided gaming mat, or dice tray. You can even add square and hex grids to their existing mats, or your own creation. You can start your own gaming mat creation here.

The Mythos Docks, Beach, Caribbean Sea, and Island Gaming mats used to produce this feature were provided by Deep-Cut Studios.
