Today Mojang and Blackbird Interactive released a brand new video about the upcoming action strategy game Minecraft Legends.
The video focuses on the art and visuals of the game, how they have been created, and how they differ from "big brother" Minecraft proper.
Specifically, we hear from Julia, Lisha, and Addy from Blackbird Interactive and Telemachus from Mojang Studios as they talk about how creating the game's world involved a lot more artist involvement than the procedural design of your usual Minecraft sandbox, while animations are also keyframed, so the mobs look definitely more lively.
Interestingly, we also delve into the design of the Piglins, done in parallel with the Nether update of Minecraft, and funnily some of them look like they're Piglins of Khorne while others look like Piglins of Nurgle. I wonder if there are any Warhammer fans at Blackbird.
You can watch the video below.
Unlike its big brother Minecraft, Minecraft Legends isn't a sandbox game. Yet, it brings back the world, the characters, and the aesthetic for a charming action real-time-strategy game. It'll release for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on April 18, 2023. Of course, it'll also be included on Game Pass.
If you're more interested in Minecraft itself, we recently heard more about the upcoming update "Trails & Tales." We've already seen the new blocks that will make their way into the game with the update, alongside the cherry blossom biome, the Sniffer mob, and the new Archaeology feature.
