It's official: Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, otherwise known as Myths & Mortals, is upon us, and Epic has released the season notes to give you a look at what's new in the popular battle royale game.
Over on the official Fortnite website, Epic breaks down the new season, which has been teased this week and which was officially unveiled earlier today.
First up, the map is getting a Greek mythology-themed makeover; you'll be able to visit iconic locations like Mount Olympus, which sports a giant monument of a winged warrior, as well as the Grim Gate, which serves as the entrance to the Underworld.
Along with new locations, Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is also adding new weapons worthy of the gods themselves.
The Thunderbolt of Zeus does pretty much exactly what you'd expect it to; while wielding it, you can leap into the air and throw lightning at your enemies, although the weapon doesn't have many charges, so you'll need to use it sparingly.
Epic has gone for a somewhat liberal interpretation of the Greek gods; you've also got access to a shotgun forged by Hephaestus for Cerberus to use, as well as an SMG wielded by Hades and a DMR used by Artemis.
As if that wasn't enough Greek mythology for you, this new update has also added the Wings of Icarus, which you can use to soar over the island. Naturally, though, if you fly for too long...well, we all know the myth.
Of course, a new Battle Pass has also been added with this latest season, and you can unlock skins for mythic figures like Zeus, Medusa, and Hades.
This season also brings a collaboration with The Legend of Korra, allowing you to unlock a skin for the Avatar herself later in the season.
Fortnite is available to play for free right now across...well, pretty much everything (except for iOS, that is). You can read the full season notes for the game's new Myths & Mortals season here.
