NIS America has revealed its The Caligula Effect: Overdose PS5 release date. The JRPG, which is a remake of the 2016 PlayStation Vita title The Caligula Effect, is heading to PlayStation 5 on May 30th, and to mark the announcement, NIS America also released a new character trailer showing the party members you'll be teaming up with.

The Caligula Effect: Overdose was originally revealed to be coming to PS5 last month, but now, we know when we'll be able to play it on Sony's current-gen machine. The new trailer shows off the members of The Go-Home Club, a group dedicated to escaping from the virtual world of Mobius in which they find themselves. You can check out the trailer here.

The world of Mobius was created by a program by the name of μ (pronounced "Mu"), who wanted humans to be able to live their lives without pain. Everyone in Mobius is stuck in high school, living out the same three years over and over again, and it's up to The Go-Home Club to free themselves and the people around them from this fate. Honestly, though, I know some people who'd be pretty happy with reliving high school over and over.

Overdose is a remake of the original The Caligula Effect, so it adds extra stuff like a playable female protagonist, better visuals and improved gameplay, and extra supporting characters, as well as new endings to unlock. Even if you've played The Caligula Effect, it's definitely worth seeking this remake out so you can see what's new.

The Caligula Effect: Overdose comes to PS5 on May 30th, and if you're in Europe, you'll be able to play it on June 2nd. The game is already available on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, so if you really can't wait, you can check it out right now, although the PS5 version will likely run more smoothly than the PS4 or Switch versions. Stay tuned for more info on this game and all things NIS America.
