Clanfolk clan characters guide

There are a lot of moving parts in Clanfolk, but one of the primary resources you have is your clan itself. The randomized people who populate your colony are an important resource, as each member of your clan is built differently, with unique stats, traits, and even likes and dislikes that might help or hinder your survival. Even the animals you raise have the same stats tied to them. This Clankfolk Members guide will go over some of the key information you need to know about the folk in Clanfolk, and how these stats fit together with the rest of the game.

Clanfolk Attributes

Clanfolk Attributes Sheet
When you select a member of your clan, you get a good view of their entire character sheet, including their attributes on the left-hand side.

Each member of the clan has their own personal statistics, called attributes. These attributes can raise or lower depending on the conditions the character is in, if they have any afflictions, or start with a general trait. Since certain conditions can raise or lower the attributes of your characters, knowing what each attribute is governed by becomes incredibly important.

Most attributes are slowly recovered at night while sleeping. You can also recover some attributes during the day, though at a slower rate as well. All but three of these attributes, Age, Environment, and Plaid, can have negative effects attached to them based on the conditions surrounding the clan member.

One of the attributes, in particular, is important to understand, and that is Age.  Age reflects the age of your clan member. In-game, characters age up or out each day, similar to what you would see in The Sims. Babies age up after 20 days in the game time, Juveniles age up after 40 days, while adults age up after 128 - 192 days. Finally, seniors age down (die) after 24 to 36 days. In total, the lifespan of a character can range from 212 to 288 days, or roughly 5.3 to 7.2 years. Players should use that to essentially try and plan out the effectiveness of their clan members, so they can monitor their attributes accordingly for long-term survival, or at the very least know how long they will have clan members in-game.

The rest of your attributes are as follows:

Clanfolk Traits
When you start a game, you get a quick preview of the traits of your clan members.

Clanfolk Afflictions

One of the more hidden aspects of Clanfolk is afflictions and traits. Afflictions refer to temporary modifiers for each character may have, which directly affect their attributes. Afflictions are not always negative modifiers either, and sometimes you can have multiple afflictions on a clan member at once. Some afflictions are also on a set timer, meaning they will last on a character until their time runs out.

The following is a known list of Clanfolk Traits:

  • Alone Time - Need to be left alone, mood -1500 max, decreases sleep.

There are likely more afflictions out there, so make sure to track them so you know what is increasing or decreasing your attributes.

Clanfolk Traits

Traits work the same way but are mostly permanent modifiers that stay with clan members until death. Traits can change from juveniles to adults, but for the most part, they stay on a character for the long haul. Your characters start with these traits when you generate a clan, so keep that in mind as some traits are more positive than others.

  • Fast Metabolism - Movement Speed +10%, work +1000 max, decreases food quicker.

Clanfolk Skills List
The skills tab at the bottom of the page opens up the Skills menu here, which shows all of your clan members in a row for easy comparison.

Clanfolk Skills

There are a total of 14 skills in Clanfolk. Each character will have preferences for skills as well, typically indicated by a smile or frown face next to the skills icon on their character sheet. If there is a smiley face next to a skill, the more likely a clan member has an aptitude for the skill and will enjoy doing work with it.

Performing tasks related to your skill increases your aptitude, so doing repetitive tasks, such as hunting, farming, or simply gathering rocks, can quickly raise your aptitude for skill and level it up accordingly. Most skills range from 1 to 10, with some exceptions; a 0 in a skill is one a character simply can’t do well, while 10 or higher is something they are particularly good at. Your clan folks' age can also determine your starting skill numbers at the start of the game. Juveniles will be level 1 for most skills, if at all. Adults will be in the 2 to 3 range, while Seniors will likely start with a level 4 skill or two.

Here's the full list of Clanfolk Skills:

  • Doctor - Ability to take care of the sick or injured
  • Repair - Keeping objects in good shape and repairing them as needed.
  • Gathering - Clearing and collecting items, such as berries, mushrooms, and branches.
  • Harvest - Using sickles to reap crops.
  • Hunting - Using weapons to hunt foxes and rabbits, clearing eel traps and snares.
  • Lumber - Using axes to cut down trees.
  • Mining - Using pickaxes to clear mountain tiles, or mining the ground.
  • Building - Constructing buildings or objects.
  • Cooking - Using the cooking fire or stoves to make edible food.
  • Farming - Using a hoe to till the ground, sow seeds, or use the thresher.
  • Crafting - Constructing tools and objects for use.
  • Clothes - Using straw to make clothing at a clothing zone.
  • Hauling - Bringing items on the map to stockpiles or storage bins.
  • Cleaning - Reducing environmental dirt on the map, and cleaning oneself, increasing the mood of your clanfolk.

Don't be afraid to try and specialize some members of your clan, particularly juveniles and adults. Making them incredibly skilled in one or two areas, whether it is hunting, farming, making clothing, or another skill, having an expert in your clan can increase productivity for you in the long run. In general, you want to focus on skills your characters have an aptitude for or have some increased level in. A few characters can be jacks of all trades, but you need a master or two to really survive in the long term, so planning ahead is essential for this.

And there is a breakdown of the attributes, skills, traits and afflictions you can find in Clanfolk. Knowing what each of these different stats do is critical for long term survival, so hopefully this guide gives you a basic idea of what you need to make it through the winter.
