As if a reminder in your phone and constantly watching the clock weren't enough, Apple has posted a countdown timer on their website to the exact time of their special event on Sept. 9.  Many expect that a new iPhone will be released, probably alongside iOS 8, with optimists holding out hope for details on an upcoming wearable.

Rumors have been swirling regarding Apple's new phone offering, with many seeming to hone in on two models, both with larger screens, one at 4.7 inches, and another at 5.5 inches. More recent rumors also point to a possible NFC mobile-payment system that would include partnerships with major credit card companies and retailers. Apple has been spotted assembling a massive three-story structure at the event site in Northern California, which would seem to indicate a large commitment to showmanship, something that many take to substantiate popular rumors.

The countdown timer is also the same site where Apple will be posting a live stream of the event, slated to begin at 1 PM EDT/10 AM PDT. In this case, Apple seems to want to play into the open secret of at least part of their event, and invite more hype.  Are you looking forward to Sept. 9? What are you most hoping shows up on the stage, other than Craig Federighi's hair?
