Last year, Wizards of the Coast held an event for fans of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. The Stream of Many Eyes offered attendees and Twitch viewers a chance to watch groups like Critical Role play live, to explore an immersive space populated by themed cosplay and roleplay, and to learn about the latest D&D releases. This year, you've got a very similar opportunity. Provided you have a weekend free from May 17-19 and some coin to spare, of course. Wizards of the Coast just announced D&D Live 2019: The Descent. Following last year’s event, D&D Live 2019: The Descent will take place in Los Angeles, running from Friday until Sunday.

The event shines a spotlight on products like the adventure book Ghosts of Saltmarsh. While last year's Waterdeep: Dragon Heist focused on the eponymous city and a plot orchestrated by Waterdeep's elites, Saltmarsh emphasizes nautical adventures. The village of Saltmarsh lies on the Azure Coast, and it also happens to lie at the center of numerous dark, violent designs. The shark-taming sahuagin, the vengeful dead of the deeps, and a sinister cult all seek to plunder Saltmarsh. The village stands on the brink; who could possibly come to the rescue?

It's you. You could possibly do that. Along with some willing (or charmed) friends, of course.

The event will include more information about the upcoming storyline and an Adventurer’s League session for attendees to play. There will also be signings, musical performances, cosplay, and giveaways.

Those who can’t make it to LA but still have internet access will be able to check out the event at twitch.tv/dnd, starting 4:00 pm PT on Friday. Prominent D&D channels such as Dice, Camera, Action! and Girls Guts Glory will be playing sessions live. Along with the main channel, various community streamers and podcasters will be sharing content from four mini-studios on both Saturday and Sunday.

On Friday and Saturday night, a two-part Dungeons & Dragons story will be played out by some of the most prominent folks at the event. High-profile dungeon masters Chris Perkins, Jeremy Crawford, and Kate Welch from Wizards of the Coast will be running the sessions. You'll get to see the story unfold with characters played by Matthew Lillard, Mica Burton, Anna Prosser, and Patrick Rothfuss. Additionally, Chris Funk of the Decembrists will be featured in and directing a “rock concert celebration,” which will close out the weekend.

If you're wanting to go, it will cost a pretty penny as tickets go for $300 a piece and there are a limited number of the 3-day badges available for purchase now. Those who buy the badge will find themselves at an event where they can meet Dungeons and Dragons partners and various characters in a flavor-rich marketplace area. They'll also get a D&D swag bag that has merchandise from various partners and a special early copy of Ghosts of Saltmarsh.
