Fans of cinematic pulpy storytelling have been greatly enjoying Candela Obscura. The newest TTRPG by Darrington Press has been featured on Critical Role and has gained attention from big names like Brennan Lee Mulligan. Now it will provide some humanitarian aid via a Candela Obscura charity stream.

The Candela Obscura charity stream announcement

In a recent social media post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the tabletop-focused Twitch channel QuestKeep announced their Candela Obscura charity stream.

Officially titled Whispers in the Twilight, this three-part story will debut as part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation's International Stream For The Wishes program. It is a program where global streamers grant wishes to children with critical illnesses.

As for who will take part in this Candela Obscura charity stream, there are some notable names. The adventure will be GM'd by Kevin Parr, writer and producer of Actual Plays for QuestKeep.

Playing at this table is a healthy mix of tabletop veterans.

Those veterans include prolific tabletop designer and professional GM Gabe Hicks (Epic Encounters, Essence20), Host of Geek and Sundry's Starter Kit and musician Jason Charles Miller, LARPer Momo O'Brien, Knights of the Rolled Table's own Weston Gardner, and actress/podcaster/tabletop lover Dael Kingsmill.

In addition, the Candela Obscura charity stream will feature special appearances by Krystina Arielle. Arielle is a professional tabletop actress who has been a guest several times on Critical Role. She is also the host of Star Wars: The High Republic Show.

Candela Obscura is a TTRPG where players take on the roles of investigators working for an esoteric order. Players will pursue strange occurrences, encounter dangerous magic, and fight back against mysterious forces of corruption.

Gameplay-wise it is similar to the more narrative-driven gameplay found in Blades In the Dark. Utilizing the Illuminated Worlds System, challenges are resolved with six-sided dice, facilitating thematic arc-driven play. The core rulebook will soon be available for purchase.

The Candela Obscura charity stream will debut on October 30 at 6 PM EST on the official QuestKeep Twitch channel.
