Games Workshop is teasing the new Warhammer 40K Drukhari rules in advance of its 2021 Codex release, revealing a much more agile and more powerful xenos army for Warhammer 40,000.

The Drukhari — formerly known as the Dark Eldar — are a Chaos-aligned race of xenos in Warhammer 40,000. As with most races in the game, the Drukhari are in the midst of getting a new codex. This means new lore, new rules, and what looks like some serious buffs to a hard-hitting army.

Two of the Warhammer 40K Drukhari models were highlighted in a preview posted on the Warhammer website. The first is the standard Kabalite Warrior and it looks like it's getting some buffs for close combat; it's now capable of an extra attack. The Splinter Cannon weapon has also been updated a bit; it now does 2 Damage, making it a pretty tough contender on the battlefield — especially with its 36 inches of range.

Of course, these are just two pieces of a very complex army. The Drukhari are largely focused on moving fast and hitting hard, so the extra attack for the Kabalite Warrior and the damage buff to the Splinter Cannon leans into that playstyle. As always, that's not the only way to play — I'm sure that new players and veterans alike will cook up some pretty interesting playstyles when the new Drukhari codex releases.

When is the Warhammer 40K Drukhari Codex Release Date?

Unfortunately, there is not yet a Warhammer 40K Drukhari codex release date. The codex had already been delayed, but it's not all bad news — Games Workshop says that the Drukhari codex should be releasing sometime in 2021.

The Drukhari codex will be the first Xenos book released this year. Judging by what we've seen so far, it looks like this Chaos-aligned army might be getting some seriously cool buffs.

What do you think of the new Drukhari rules teased today? Do you think more players will pick up this army as a result? Let us know in the comments below!
