Fans of classic tabletop board games officially have some good news. Medici: The Board Game, the 1995 auction board game created by Reiner Knizia is getting a brand new modern release, courtesy of Steamforged Games.
The Medici: The Board Game 2024 release
According to a newsletter from Steamforged Games, this new release of Medici: The Board Game will contain brand new artwork, allowing the 1995 original to reach a new modern audience.
Overall, the core gameplay remains the same. 2-6 players take on the roles of seafaring traders in 16th-century Florence, Italy. Each day, you'll go to the market where you will bid on or sell high-quality items. Fine cloth, exotic spices, colorful dye, lush fur pelts, even gold and grain from far away places.
A single game of Medici: The Board Game, takes place over three days. Players will present goods to be auctioned and use the proceeds to fill their ships with cargo. When the day ends, you'll get paid for your wares. But that money you use to buy more wares doubles as your end-game points. So be wary and make your investments wisely.

As for what this new version of Medici: The Board Game will contain, the game's product page provides extra information. The game will feature character art. These new characters each have their own ship. This means players can now choose which 16th-century trader they want to play while bidding for cargo.
In addition, the new Ship Tokens and Player Aid Cards will help new players set up games and track their resources.
