Do you love social deduction games like Werewolf, Mafia, and Secret Hitler? How about classic Disney movies? If you answered "yes" to both of those questions, today's your lucky day. Asmodee has announced Gathering of the Wicked, a Disney villain-themed social deduction game.
What is Gathering of the Wicked?
In essence, Gathering of the Wicked is a Disney-themed reskin of the classic social deduction game Werewolves of Miller's Hollow (itself very much inspired by Mafia). You'll play as some of your favorite Disney villain characters like Maleficent, Hades, and Captain Hook, plus plenty more. The game is played in teams, with each team vying to complete objectives away from prying eyes. At the end of each game day, players will gather and debate who's betraying them, but you won't know who's on your side, so it's all about bluffing to divert suspicion.

As a variation on Miller's Hollow, games will take around 30 minutes each. You'll be able to play alongside up to eleven other people, but it's probably best to play in even numbers to ensure team equality (unless you like a challenge, of course). Each Disney villain will have access to specific powers and roles the others won't have, and while other players will know those powers, you also have a secret alignment you're pursuing. If you love social deduction games and can't get enough of classic Disney baddies, this should be on your radar.
When can you play Gathering of the Wicked?
If you're hankering to get into character as your favorite Disney villain and start hamming it up, you don't have too long to wait. Asmodee says you'll be able to pick this one up in October, although we don't have a specific date. 2021 also happens to be the 20th anniversary of Werewolves of Miller's Hollow, and Asmodee says there's no better way to celebrate than with this Disney-themed variant. We'd be inclined to agree.
You can keep up with this one via the official website. It's not up for pre-order yet, but make sure to bookmark it if you're looking forward to Gathering of the Wicked. Now, if you'll excuse us, we're off to apply our Captain Hook costumes and prepare our very best innocent faces.
