An Exploding Kittens: Good vs. Evil card game has been announced. The Kickstarter board game success story turned sensation now has a more narrative-focused spin-off, one that is directly inspired by an upcoming Netflix adaptation.

The Exploding Kittens: Good vs. Evil Card Game announcement

According to a Business Wire report, the Exploding Kittens: Good vs. Evil card game will be the same card game fans love. It is effectively a game of Russian Roulette – just with novelty cat cards.

The difference is that this card game will include narrative elements from the upcoming Netflix adult animated series adaptation. This includes new character cards like Godcat, the most powerful card created, and events like "Armageddon" and "Raising Heck."

Exploding Kittens is one of the biggest names in the tabletop industry. To date, it is the #1 most-backed Kickstarter campaign in history, selling over 25 million games. This has led the creators to sell and produce multiple titles and spin-offs, as well as mobile game adaptations.

“Creating the Exploding Kittens series with Netflix has been a dream come true,” said Matthew Inman, Exploding Kittens’ Chief Creative Officer and Creator of The Oatmeal. “Good vs. Evil allowed us to give fans a first look into what the show has in store, and we hope they have just as much fun playing the game as we had creating it.”

This style of promotion is not unusual for the creators of Exploding Kittens. Back during the NFT trends, the company produced several "printable NFTs" to coincide with the release of their card game, Happy Salmon.

The company is also no stranger to product recalls. Ironically, they had to recall pairs of Exploding Kittens goggles, included in copies of the game Throw Throw Burrito, due to a risk of them exploding.

The Exploding Kittens: Good vs. Evil card game is meant for 2-5 players, and takes about fifteen minutes to play. The game is available now for $21.99 both in-store and online at Walmart and Target.
