A Disney Lorcana companion app is coming. The highly anticipated card game, developed by Ravensburger in partnership with Disney, has turned heads thanks to its expressive art style and novel gameplay concepts.
That interest may continue to grow thanks to this app's features, which include a deckbuilding function.
The Disney Lorcana companion app announcement
According to an official press release, the Disney Lorcana companion app provides a robust suite of features. The app will contain a complete card catalog, allowing collectors to keep track of their collections. There is even a wish list function.
In addition, the deckbuilding feature will allow you to create and manage a custom deck. This feature is a highlight for TCG veterans and newbies alike.
Finally, the Disney Lorcana companion app will include other helpful elements. These include informative how-to-play videos and rules, a lore points counter tool, as well as news updates about the future of Disney Lorcana.
In Disney Lorcana, players take on the role of Illumineers. In a game, players will use magic ink to summon a team of "glimmers" or versions of classic Disney characters. The first player to collect 20 Lore wins.
The core gameplay of Disney Lorcana is currently the basis of a lawsuit between Ravensburger and Upper Deck Entertainment. Upper Deck alleges that someone working at Ravensburger stole and copied a similar design they had.
The Disney Lorcana companion is available download right now for free on the App Store and Google Play.
The launch of this app comes ahead of Disney Lorcana's official release. The inaugural set for this TCG called Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter, will slowly release over the month of August.
Those attending this year's GenCon will have the first chance to buy Disney Lorcana at Ravensburger's booth. Afterward, the full set of products and accessories will become available at local game stores and Disney Parks on August 18.
Those same products will then be available across multiple major outlets on September 1.
Those outlets are Target, Walmart, Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Barnes & Noble, FYE, Hot Topic, shopDisney.com, and select Disney stores in the U.S, and Toys R Us, Walmart, Mastermind, Indigo, and GameStop in Canada.
