Classic D&D Adventures Coming In Ghosts of Saltmarsh

Wizards of the Coast have announced a new adventure sourcebook for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition with several classic AD&D adventures adapted for the newest edition of the game. Ghosts of Saltmarsh brings together 7 different adventures into a single volume and provides details about the Saltmarsh campaign setting to allow players to set their own adventures in the sea-bound, sleepy fishing village.

Ghosts of Saltmarsh includes the trio of successful adventures originally published in the 1980s which introduced the world to Saltmarsh, as well as several adventures from Dungeon magazine to round out a completed campaign. Dungeon masters will have the option of taking characters from level 1 - 12 throughout the adventures in the book or to pull segments from the book to use in ongoing campaigns and pre-existing settings.

The first adventure included in the book The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh is one of the top-rated Dungeons & Dragons adventures that has ever been released and the 256-page book includes rules for the players to control their own ship to help explore the region. The book will be available from May 21st and will be available both digitally and in book stores, however a special edition cover with distinctive artwork and a soft-touch cover will be available in local game stores.

Quick Take

This is some interesting news for fans of classic adventure modules. Hopefully if this proves to be popular we might get to see some more updated classic adventure modules. Here's hoping that we can get Dungeonland, The land Beyond the Magic Mirror and Castle Greyhawk updated for 5th edition. It's not like you can't update these adventure yourself for the modern edition of course, but it's nice when WOTC goes out of their way to provide a more convenient solution.

Are you looking forward to Ghosts of Saltmarsh? Will you be getting the special cover edition? Let us know in the comments down below.
