The Shadowlands Afterlives animated series has been announced as a standalone show set in the universe of World of Warcraft and it will be making its world premiere before the month of August 2020 is over.

World of Warcraft is still going strong and a lucky few gamers have had a chance to check out the Shadowlands beta. Blizzard has put a lot of work into expanding its lore with its latest expansion, and now it's going to be taking things a step further with a brand-new World of Warcraft animated series.

Check out the trailer for the Shadowlands Afterlives animated series for yourself!

Not much is known about the upcoming World of Warcraft animated series just yet. According to the trailer's description on YouTube, this new show will explore the four realms of the titular Shadowlands: Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, and Revendreth.

We can get a sense of the characters, too, although this is largely a matter of speculation. Discussion on Reddit points out that Garrosh, Uther, and Arthas seem to make appearances of some sort as well.

When is the Shadowlands Afterlives Animated Series Release Date?

You'll be able to watch the first episode of Shadowlands Afterlives when it premieres as part of gamescom's Opening Night Live show on August 27, 2020, starting at 2:00 PM EDT.

We're unfortunately short on concrete details aside from two key points: the first episode will premier in just a few days and there will be four episodes in total according to a news post on the game's official website. Considering that the new Shadowlands realm has four zones for players to explore, it seems likely that each episode will focus on one of the four zones.

You'll be able to check out the world premiere of the Shadowlands Afterlives animated series this Thursday. In the meantime, you can pre-purchase World of Warcraft: Shadowlands at the game's official website.
