Rock Band 4

Mega band U2 will be among the major playable acts in Rock Band 4, according to a recent press release by Harmonix. The Irish band, formed in 1976, has released 13 studio albums in their illustrious career and are 22-time grammy award winners. This will be the first time U2 will be playable in Rock Band.

The two songs chosen for their initial release will be "Cedarwood Road" from their latest album Songs of Innocence, and "I Will Follow" from their debut album Boy. Mad Catz and Harmonix are also promising more U2 songs will be released in track packs in the future.

U2 joins a very eclectic group of musicians featured in Rock Band 4, including Elvis Presley, Ozzy Osborne, The Who and The Foo Fighters. More musicians and songs are also promised, including a slew of pre-order songs for both the PS4 and the Xbox One that will likely be made available for purchase at a later date. Other tracks will follow suit, with Harmonix promising to continue the release of new songs and artists in the future.

Rock Band 4 is the continuation of the acclaimed Rock Band franchise, which began in 2007. Hundreds of musicians have been featured in the game, with over 1,500 tracks made available for purchase on the Rock Band music store. Harmonix is also promising backward compatibility between systems; so tracks purchased on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 can be transferred to the Playstation 4 and Xbox One respectively for no additional costs. The Rock Band franchise has sold over 4 million units worldwide, and have paid over $100 million for downloadable content. The Rock Band series would release songs every week from 2007 to 2013, a grand total of 275 consecutive weeks of constant DLC before pulling the plug on April 2nd. They have since then made sporadic releases in 2015.

Rock Band 4 will be available on October 6th, 2015 for the PS4 and Xbox One.

So what do you think, is U2 a good draw? Is there any artist you'd love to see in the next Rock Band? Leave your comments below.
