Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle has been delayed, publisher NIS America confirmed earlier today. Touhou Kobuto V's described as a "bullet-hell battle game" that "takes place in the Touhou universe" on NISA's official website. The game allows you to control 1 of 9 different characters, in story modes, offline split-screen, and online battle modes. The game is the first "Touhou" game to officially release on a Nintendo platform (official Touhou release or otherwise). The game will support PlayStation VR on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro.
Previous Touhou games released on console were allowed through an understanding between Zun (the developer of the Touhou series, and lone developer of Team Shanghai Alice) and PlayStation, giving fangame developers the chance to bring their games to a console platform via MediaScape and PlayDojin.
The game, which was originally scheduled to release on September 5th, 2017 in NA, and September 8th in EU, is now releasing on October 10th in North America and October 13th in Europe. The game will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Nintendo Switch. According to NIS America, the game's publisher, the delay is being done to "accommodate the production and manufacturing of the game."
In other news Culdcept: Revolt was also recently delayed to October - October 3rd in North America, and October 6th in the EU. The game, which was originally published by Nintendo in Japan, was originally scheduled for August 29th in North America and September 1st in EU. NIS America cited similar production issues for the delay (of special note, I was told that Culdcept: Revolt's version at E3 was final code).
Both Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle and Culdcept Revolt will release this October. Touhou releases on the platforms listed above, and Culdcept Revolt will be available on Nintendo 3DS. We'll update you with more information on both games as news and other details continue to flow in.
