The Dicey Dungeons release date has been announced for August 2019. Developer Terry Cavanagh (VVVVVV, Super Hexagon) has come up with another crazy game where you'll grab your dice and head down into dungeons. Of course, this one has a twist — you don't just roll the dice, you are the dice.
Dicey Dungeons has players taking on the role of anthropomorphized dice as they head into a dungeon in order to defeat the almighty Lady Luck. In what may be the best compulsive gambler's revenge fantasy to come to market, you will literally beat the heck out of Lady Luck at the end of this game (probably, anyway). This game mixes deckbuilding and turn-based combat into what will probably be a pretty unique experience, and you'll be able to play it yourself on August 13, 2019, according to a tweet from the developer.
Players will have their choice of six "wildly different" classes: Warrior, Thief, Robot, Jester, Inventor, and Witch. Each of these classes has their own interesting special abilities; for example, the Thief can steal random enemy equipment and the Inventor must destroy their equipment after each battle in order to build new gadgets.
There will be dozens of enemies to fight including vampiric vacuum cleaners, sentient snowmen, and who knows what other wonderfully silly stuff. Music is being provided by Chipzel, the same lovely lady who made the sick tracks for Super Hexagon and art is being handled by Marlowe Dobbe. This upcoming game will also be procedurally generated for (theoretically) endless fun.
If Dicey Dungeons sounds like your kind of jam, you'll be able to get it when launches for PC, Mac, and Linux on August 13, 2019. No price has been announced. In the meantime, you can add the game to your wishlist on Steam or check out its page on Itch.io.
