During today's Pokemon Presents showcase, The Pokemon Company and Game Freak unveiled a second game in what is now the Pokemon Legends series. It's called Pokemon Legends: Z-A and it's heading to Switch next year.

The announcement trailer for Pokemon Legends Z-A doesn't give a whole lot away. It kicks off with a "classified" document revealing a redevelopment plan for a city whose name has been obscured by tape.

We then get to see the city in question, and it's Lumiose City from Pokemon X and Y's Kalos region, although it's rendered in a sort of wireframe VR style, presumably in keeping with the redevelopment plan theme.

We don't know an awful lot about Pokemon Legends Z-A just yet.

We see a number of other Pokemon first introduced in Pokemon X and Y, including Pyroar, Furfrou, and Sylveon, before the trailer shows a Fletchling soaring over the very Eiffel Tower-inspired Lumiose Gym.

As the trailer concludes, the piece of tape obscuring the city's name is removed, and it is indeed Lumiose City. Pokemon Legends: Z-A's name is then revealed, alongside a 2025 release window.

Naturally, this is just a teaser, but it's nice to see another game in the Pokemon Legends series, since Arceus was something of a breath of fresh air. Nintendo does reveal, however, that the game will be set entirely in Lumiose City, so it'll be interesting to see how Game Freak pulls that off.

Of course, that's not all we heard about during the Pokemon Presents showcase.

The Pokemon Company also revealed a brand new mobile app by the name of Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, which aims to represent all facets of the TCG in app form.

That means you'll be able to rip open (virtual) card packs and enjoy immersive card designs which will allow you to explore the artwork of the card. The trailer shows a piece of art depicting Pikachu, with the player zooming in to see what else is going on beyond the card's boundaries.

Naturally, you'll also be able to battle your friends and trade cards in this app, although The Pokemon Company points out that the trading feature may not be available at launch. Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket is set to launch sometime this year.

We also got to hear about upcoming content for other Pokemon titles, including a collaboration between Pokemon Go and the upcoming Pokemon Horizons TV show, as well as new fighters for Pokemon Unite and the appearance of Johto's legendary dog trio in Pokemon Sleep.
