People are going to be able to try the Nintendo Switch much sooner than expected.
The company announced today that the Nintendo Switch will be playable on January 13, 2017. This is one day after their presentation on the Switch in Tokyo. This presentation is meant to show off the Nintendo Switch and its games. Also, Nintendo will announce the price and launch date of the console.
Then, one day later in New York, they will be holding a five hour hands-on event! The January 12 presentation will give viewers of the streamed event an idea of what to expect. After that, Nintendo will host a private event at an as-of-yet unspecified location for people to play with the Nintendo Switch. The reasoning for this is that the company "will further emphasize some of the details that Nintendo plans to announce."
Much like the release date of the Nintendo Switch, the details of this hands-on event are being obfuscated until a later date. Nintendo will announce more concrete details as the presentation draws closer. The Switch, which Nintendo announced last month, will be releasing in March of 2017. However, Nintendo will announce a concrete release date at the streamed Tokyo event on January 12.
