There were 2 big update announcements made on this morning's Nintendo Direct. The first being that Animal Crossing: New Leaf will be receiving Amiibo support. Animal Crossing series Amiibo cards and figurines will be compatible with the game as well as certain figures from other Nintendo series. There will also be a new wave of Animal Crossing Amiibo cards launching to support this update. There will be 50 new cards in this set and all of them will feature villagers not seen in the vanilla version of Animal Crossing: New Leaf. If you already own Animal Crossing: New Leaf then you can simply update it to this new version of the game. There will also be a boxed version of the game called Animal Crossing: New Leaf Welcome Amiibo that will include an Amiibo card from the new Animal Crossing wave. They hinted at some other new features beyond the Amiibo features but didn't give any details.
They also announced that Picross 3d Round 2 will be releasing on the eShop today. It will include over 300 puzzles and blocks that can now be painted two colors. You can also use Amiibo figures to unlock secret Nintendo character puzzles. There will also be a free demo for the game on the eShop.
