New Selection for Nintendo Selects

Nintendo games don't often drop in price, much to the annoyance of people who would like cheaper high quality Wii U and 3DS games. The one exception comes in the form of Nintendo Selects, when high selling games have their prices dropped to $19.99. Nintendo has just announced that 12 new games are getting added to the list starting March 11th.

The Wii U, Wii, and 3DS will each be getting four games added to the Nintendo Selects line. On the Wii U you can look out for 4 player co-op 3D platformer Super Mario 3D World, plant tossing strategy title Pikmin 3, current 2D platforming king Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and the nostalgic throwback NES Remix Pack. Wii owners, or Wii U owners with a desire to try out some classics, can look forward to Super Mario Galaxy 2, Animal Crossing: City Folk, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and Super Mario All-Stars. Last but not least we have the four 3DS games being added: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Mario Party: Island Tour, and Yoshi's New Island.

These mark the first four Wii U games to make the Nintendo Selects program, and it's not a bad group. Super Mario 3D World was rather well received when it came out and has won many awards. Similarity would be Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze which is often considered to be one of the best platformers on the market and a must-own for any Wii U owners. On the other hand, NES Remix Pack is a bit of an odd duck out. It's not a bad game, but it's not the kind of game that really needed this kind of program and I can't help but wonder why Nintendo didn't offer a more desirable game in its spot.

Both Sony and Microsoft have similar programs. Sony's Greatest Hits program added it's first four PlayStation 4 games last year (these games being Infamous: Second Son, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack, and Tomb Raider) while Microsoft's Platinum Hits line includes 6 Xbox One games.

What do you think? Should Nintendo have picked a better set of games? Or are these exactly the games you wanted? Let us know in the comments!
