A new Nobunaga's Ambition: Awakening trailer has arrived, giving you a more in-depth idea of how some of the game's mechanics will work. The trailer, which also marks the opening of pre-orders on Steam and PS4, shows off advisors, combat, and clan mechanics, plus more.

Nobunaga's Ambition: Awakening is heading to the West next month, and ahead of its release date, this new trailer should give you a better idea of what's in store for you if you grab it. Like other Nobunaga's Ambition games, this one will be a grand strategy game in which you'll unify Japan as the daimyo of your very own clan.

As the trailer opens, we get to see Nobunaga interacting with advisors and generals, as well as deciding battle tactics and conquest strategies. Awakening will likely be many players' introduction to the Nobunaga's Ambition franchise, so it'll also streamline overall campaign goals in some interesting ways.

The new "clan target" system, for instance, allows you to decide from the outset what kind of clan you want to start. As you achieve that objective, you'll rack up rewards like gold, new policies, and an increase in labor. Easier targets are available if you don't feel too confident with the game's systems, but once you're more experienced, you can plump for tougher targets with greater potential rewards.

We also get a look at various historical Japanese battles which will be recreated in Nobunaga's Ambition: Awakening. These include the 1582 Battle of Yamazaki, the five Battles of Kawanakajima, and the Siege of Osaka. Assuming that last one refers to the real-life 17th-century battle, Nobunaga was long dead by that point, but hey, maybe you get to play as Tokugawa Ieyasu. That'd be fun, right?

Nobunaga's Ambition: Awakening is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on July 20th. Pre-orders for the game are open right now on PC and PS4, and you'll be able to pre-order the game on Switch starting from June 29th.
