Following the announcement that the beloved original Muv-Luv trilogy of visual novels is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch, publisher Anchor announced the Muv-Luv 20th Odyssey Box.

While details are scarce, we know that it'll include the Nintendo Switch versions of both Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative, alongside "rich bonuses."

If you're wondering why I call it a trilogy, it's because Muv-Luv actually includes the first game, Muv-Luv Extra, and the second game, Muv-Luv-Unlimited. While the trilogy is sold in two packages, it's effectively formed by three games.

At the moment I don't know what the "rich bonuses" will be, nor do we have a release date or pricing information, more will be revealed at Winter Comiket, which starts on December 27.

As a matter of fact, we don't even know whether the box will come to the West, as any sort of collector's edition for this kind of game usually doesn't.

A Western release of the Switch version has not been announced yet either, so we'll have to wait and see. I would be surprised if it did not come at all, but I have no crystal ball.

If you're unfamiliar with the Muv-Luv series, it's an extremely influential visual novel series that basically contributed to making the concept of isekai popular when it still wasn't big (I suppose now you know who to blame).

It's so influential that Attack on Titan mangaka Hajime Isayama has cited it multiple times as one of his main sources of inspiration.

Incidentally, the 20th Odyssey Box is named after the fact that the original game launched on February 28, 2023, so the 20th anniversary was this year, albeit I would be surprised if this was released before 2024.

The series just released a new English localization for PC for The Imperial Capital Burns - Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse, expanding the large number of English-language releases already available on Steam (albeit some are still missing, like Schwarzesmarken).

We're also still waiting to know if the mobile game Muv-Luv Dimensions is ever coming west. For now, we don't know, but ut appears to be fairly successful in Japan.

In the meanwhile, there is only one week left for the crowdfunding campaign to bring to Steam the beloved visual novel Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien, which is also tied to the Muv-Luv series.

It's already fully funded, and you can read our recent interview about it
