Warner Bros and NetherRealm have released the first Mortal Kombat 1 Peacemaker gameplay trailer, officially letting John Cena loose to cause havoc amongst the MK1 cast.

Unlike The Boys' Homelander, Peacemaker will feature the voice and likeness of the actor who plays him in the show (Cena), as the gameplay trailer amply demonstrates.

Peacemaker in Mortal Kombat 1 seems pretty true to the character in both the show of the same name and 2021's The Suicide Squad, and he's also got some moves that should bring back good memories if you've enjoyed either of his previous appearances.

Peacemaker seems to have made the transition from movies and TV pretty much intact in Mortal Kombat 1.

Fans of the show or the movie will note Peacemaker's ability to use his pet eagle Eagly to do some damage, and his trademark shield makes an appearance as well, as does his pistol.

We also get to see Peacemaker using a number of abilities bestowed by his helmets, including the Human Torpedo's high-speed projection, the Anti-Gravity helmet's floating ability, and the Screwdriver's forcefield.

Peacemaker's X-Ray ability involves Eagly pecking at his opponent's eyes, followed by a blast from Smith's shotgun (delivered from between his legs, naturally).

The trailer concludes with a look at Peacemaker's fatality, which is typically over-the-top for both Mortal Kombat 1 and Smith himself.

It sees him strapping on a jetpack and launching himself at his opponent, ripping their torso off, before his Sonic Boom ability obliterates what's left of his unfortunate victim.

All told, Peacemaker looks like he'll slot in well with the aforementioned Homelander, as well as Invincible's Omni-Man, as part of the Mortal Kombat 1 DLC roster. It's been a strong showing so far, so let's hope that Mortal Kombat 1 continues this run of form for future DLC characters.

Peacemaker arrives in Mortal Kombat 1 on February 28th, which is next Wednesday, if you're lucky enough to own the Kombat Pack. Otherwise, he's coming on March 6th. Stay tuned for more on all things Mortal Kombat 1.
