Paradox and developer C Prompt Games have revealed the Millennia roadmap for 2024, showing what's coming to the Civilization-esque 4X strategy game throughout the rest of the year.

In a new post on Steam, C Prompt says its roadmap is "living", in a similar way to roadmaps for recent indie hits like Enshrouded. In practice, this essentially means that the roadmap is subject to change, and that it'll be updated with new info as and when the developers see fit.

First up, Millennia's first major update (if you don't count Update 0), appropriately named Update 1, has arrived alongside the roadmap, and it brings improvements to tooltips, new gameplay options, and various balance changes and tweaks.

There's lots coming to Millennia throughout this year.

Following that, two further updates are scheduled for May, bringing hotseat multiplayer features, new nations, and a new map to the game, plus "more to be announced". Tantalizing!

The fourth major Millennia update is scheduled for June, and C Prompt and Paradox are remaining tight-lipped regarding what it'll introduce. Updates 5 and 6 are scheduled to land in the third and fourth quarters of 2024 respectively, and will add features like Steam workshop support and more new content.

Those updates will also arrive alongside paid DLC, which C Prompt says will contain "plenty of content". However, core mechanic updates will be entirely free, so if you haven't paid for the season pass, you'll still get to enjoy enhancements to Millennia as and when they arrive.

You won't have to pay a penny to enjoy new core mechanics in Millennia.

The first DLC pack, Ancient Worlds, will focus on the time before humanity settled and will add a new "nomadic" start option to the game, plus various other goodies. It'll arrive in Q3 2024.

Atomic Ambitions, which arrives in Q4, is the game's second DLC pack. As the name suggests, it's all about unlocking the power of the atom, bringing new Ages and a Nuclear option for the upcoming Strategic Warfare System.

You can check out Millennia right now on PC via Steam.
