Metro: Exodus, the latest game showcasing the adventures of Artyom in post-apocalyptic Russia, has had its release date pushed back to the first quarter of 2019 according to a tweet from the game's official Twitter account.
Metro: Exodus will be telling the tale of Artyom and a band of survivors who travel away from the Moscow Metro aboard a train dubbed the Aurora. The game is set to further expand upon the mechanics of Metro: Last Light just as Last Light had improved upon the mechanics of Metro 2033. Exodus will be picking the story up from the "Redemption" ending of Metro: Last Light according to a tweet from the game's official account. While the game will still have a somewhat linear storyline, Artyom's adventures in the post-apocalypse will take place in much more open areas, allowing for a greater deal of exploration of the devastated Russian landscape.
A thread over on ResetEra points towards a THQ Nordic investor report [Swedish] which seems to be the first place that indicated that the release date for the game had been pushed back. A news post on the game's Steam Community page had the release pegged as Fall 2018 which would have had the release happen in late Q3 or early Q4.
Whatever the reason for the delay may be, fans of the Metro series will nonetheless have something to look forward in the coming weeks: the people behind the game will be showcasing some new gameplay in a never before seen environment at some point during this year's E3. Here's hoping that they'll have something exciting to show us to ease the pain from having to wait a few more months for Metro: Exodus. For now, you can add the game to your Steam Wishlist or pre-order it for the PlayStation 4 [Affiliate Link] or Xbox One [Affiliate Link] on Amazon.
