Today NIS America have announced that they're bringing The Longest Five Minutes to the west for both PlayStation Vita and Steam for Windows PC. The title will release sometime next year.

The Longest Five Minutes is an RPG which starts 5 minutes before the end of the game. Why? Somehow the main character has forgotten everything as he stands before the Overlord. Players are tasked with trying to regain their memories piece by piece, as their allies' words and the Overlord's taunts cause the main character to have flashbacks to "earlier" points in the game's story.

The game is drawn in a pseudo 8-bit art style, somewhat similar to Marvelous' Half-Minute Hero series. It's pretty easy to draw more similarities between the two titles, as well. NIS America also uploaded a trailer to go along with the title's announcement (you can find it embedded below), and the company has already created an official page for the title on the Steam Storefront, as well as an official website for the title.

More information, such as if the title will see a physical release on PlayStation Vita, and more details regarding the title's release window, should be coming soon. We'll let you know as more information flows in.

Quick Take

It's not that much of a surprise that The Longest Five Minutes is coming to the west. What's most interesting about today's announcement is NIS/NIS America's continued support for PC. Between Disgaea PC, Phantom Brave PC, Stranger of Sword City, and all the other titles that the company has brought to Steam - it seems that the company is charging full "steam" ahead onto the platform in the future. Anyway, The Longest Five Minutes seems pretty interesting from where I'm sitting; I definitely can't wait to check it out for myself! Hopefully, it releases over here sooner rather than later.
