Publisher and developer Owlcat Games released an all-new trailer today, giving fans new details on Pathfinder: Kingmaker, the very first isometric computer RPG based on the popular Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.

The trailer, which you can view below, gives a glimpse at some of the game's rich lore, new companions, and game features.

The game is being developed by a team of industry veterans, with an impressive history (Etherlods, Silent Storm, Heroes of Might & Magic V, Skyforge) and love for pen and paper role-playing games. Assisting the story is narrative designer Chris Avellone, who previously worked on Fallout 2, Planescape: Torment, Divinity: Original Sin II, and many other well-known titles. To ensure that the Pathfinder universe is carefully transferred into a video game, the development team also works in close partnership and under the supervision of Paizo, the creators of the franchise. It is based on Paizo's Kingmaker adventure path for the Pathfinder RPG, where players build a kingdom in a region called the Stolen Lands against a wide variety of threats.

The game features a fully dynamic world with changing weather systems, a day-night cycle, and seasons. It also features extensive character customization, with seven core races and 14 different classes to choose from, each with up to 3 different archetypes. This allows for a huge variety of play-styles.

You don't have to venture out into the Stolen Lands alone, as there are 11 companions available in the game, with individual stories to tell and relationships to build. Through naturally playing the game, players can shape the Kingdom around them, meaning they will be viewed as either a wise and righteous king or as an evil tyrant.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker is set to launch this summer on Windows, Mac, and Linux PCs after a successful Kickstarter campaign. Paizo, the creators of the franchise also just announced the second edition of the Pathfinder tabletop game, which is expected to fully release in early August 2019.
